A delegation from Southwest regional state has arrived at Wajid district in the Bakol region.
The team led by Interior and Reconciliation Minister, Mohamed Abukar were welcomed by Wajid district officials upon arrival at the airstrip.
The state officials including members of the regional parliament and cabinet will be spearheading a reconciliation meeting between two clans in the area.
Tensions were high in the area in the past weeks after the two sides failed to resolve their differences over land ownership disputes.
Southwest state authorities with the support from the Federal Government has in the past months embarked on a reconciliation process among the communities living in its administrative territory to end recurring inter-clan skirmishes.
A dispute resolution committee appointed by Southwest state leader, Abdiaziz Laftagareen has successfully mediated to end tribal clashes in Wanlaweyn in Lower Shabelle region in April.
