Southwest State leader Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, has opened a conference aimed at improving the region’s education system, with a focus on teaching quality, teacher training and access for children and young people.
Speaking at the opening, Sheikh Adan Madobe said education was central to social development, peace and creating better opportunities for future generations.
His remarks underline the wider challenge facing Southwest Somalia, where improving access to education is closely linked to the region’s efforts to build stronger communities and develop the skills needed for economic and social progress.
The conference brings together Southwest State officials, education professionals and other stakeholders, led by Education Minister Mohamed Osman Jiidow, as well as members of the wider community.
Participants are expected to develop practical recommendations and plans for improving education across the state.
